Today, December 6th, is Dave Brubeck's 90th birthday. With a recording career that has spanned eight decades, Brubeck's masterful compositions and performances have made him a national treasure. In 1959, he released Time Out, which became the first jazz album to sell over one million copies, and included such unforgettable tracks as "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk".
In honor of Brubeck's birthday and contributions to music, Columbia Records has released a two CD compilation entitled Legacy of a Legend, featuring twenty-one songs from Brubeck's years on Columbia Records (1954-1970) hand picked by Dave Brubeck himself. On Friday, December 10th, from 6pm to 8pm, KXUA 88.3FM presents a feature show dedicated to the life and work of Dave Brubeck. Tune in to hear a special radio documentary about Dave Brubeck, tracks from Legacy of a Legend, and for your chance to win a copy of this two CD retrospective compilation!
That's Friday, December 10th, from 6pm to 8pm only on KXUA 88.3FM!
