Diggin’ in the Crates

This week's installment is a showcase in soulful vocals and other goodies for the diggin' folks. More than a few fat drum breaks are in store for you all who may have missed the radio broadcast. Some famous ones like Marlena Shaw's "California Soul" as well as Curtis Mayfield's now well-known (thanks to hip hop producer Just Blaze) "Move On Up." Also on display are some of the giants of soul vocals, such as Etta James, Gil Scott-Heron, and even Bill Withers.

As many of you know, we here at the University were graced by the presence of none other than the Doggfather last month. So, in keeping with the theme of the show, we here at Diggin' in the Crates (all 14 of us), have compiled a wonderful show full of funk, love and Snoop. All of the songs you'll here in this podcast (air date: 1 Nov. 2010) were sampled in some way or another on a song in which Snoop performed. Either he rapped, sang, or contributed in some form or another, and here for your listening pleasure are the wonderful songs that laid the foundation for the legacy of Cordozar Calvin Broadus.
