KXUA 88.3FM Music Stage

On Sunday, May 19, KXUA will have a music stage set up at the Block Street Block Party. The event will be hosted by T. Jay.

Street Dancing by the Breaking Habits Crew, of Northwest Arkansas; Hometown Havex, of Fort Smith; Flow Beyond Fresh, of Northwest Arkansas; and Soul Rivals, of Tulsa, Okla.

Our tent will be set up outside of Riff Raff. 

The KXUA 88.3Fm Music Stage is sponsored by Art Amiss and ZoneOne.

This is not your little sister’s or little brother’s “emo” – you won’t find any white belts,  razor haircuts, or fashioncore here.  Just pure cathartic emo/DIY music from the likes of Moss Icon, Honeywell, Native Nod, Orchid, Off Minor, Daitro, or Algernon Cadwallader.  Bands that play shows like this:

The Homage Show features the music of Twisted Sister this week in a show that will make you laugh, think, get scared, and above all be entertained.  In addition to the great metal, I talk about a man who simply could not get through a metal detector, a woman with a very limited vocabulary, what animals a man ended up with when he thought he was getting poodles, and much more!

KXUA is partnering with Wakarusa for The Road to Wakarusa 2013 and will give away two Wakarusa event passes, one camping pass, and other Wakarusa items. In addition, there will be two daily winners for Wakarusa merchandise.

The Wakarusa Music Festival runs May 30-June 2, near Ozark, Ark.

The contest begins Monday, April 29, and ends Friday, May 3. The winner will be announced on Monday, May 6.

The contest is open to all except KXUA employees and volunteers and members of the Event Planning and Execution class at UA.

HOW TO EARN ENTRIES

• Each of the five days of the contest, three times a day, a D.J. at KXUA will announce a trivia question about KXUA or Wakarusa. The answers can be found on the KXUA and Wakarusa websites.
• A different question will be asked per day, repeated at least once per hour during each show on the schedule below.
• Tune in to KXUA 88.3 FM for the questions or listen online at kxua.com.
• If you know the answer, send it via email to kxua@uark.edu, along with your full name and a phone number.
• Each entrant is limited to one entry per day. For each correct answer you send, you will receive one entry for the Grand Prize drawing for the Wakarusa passes. Daily Winners’ entries will also be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing.
• You can also earn an entry if you “like” KXUA on Facebook and another if you follow it on Twitter. These entries will be allowed in addition to the entries earned by answering the questions and can be earned at any time before May 3.
• Winners will be announced on KXUA and its Facebook page and winners will receive notice by email.
•  The winners must arrange to pick up the prizes at the station in the Arkansas Union.  You must have a valid picture I.D. to claim the prize. Call 479-575-4273 to arrange a time for pickup.
• Prizes must be picked up within 10 days.

Moon Hooch stopped by the studio to play a few tracks before their show at George’s Magestic Lounge.

Fayetteville’s The Great Scotts jammed out in the KXUA studios live recently, and here is the podcast in all of its glory.

They played several live acoustic/electric tracks and we played a bunch of tracks off of their new CD, Rumble Fear.

Hello world!  It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to post one of these, but that doesn’t mean the show has been any less alive!  This show is a nice sampler of music I’ve uncovered from the vault over the past few weeks in preparation for DJ sets at Arkansas Anime Festival!

What’s this you ask?  Known as A2F for short, Arkansas Anime Festival is a  Japanese Culture, Anime, Gaming, and Sci-Fi convention happening this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Springdale Convention Center starting at 2:30 pm on Friday and lasting until about 6pm on Sunday night.  There will be anime themed “raves” happening every night of the festival featuring yours truly, DJ Blay and DJ Azrael.  So if you want to hear your favorite Digital Dance Club DJ’s doing their thing live, it would be a great idea to come out!
